Itinerary

Day 1 D
From Belize City, a 30-40 minute flight takes you to Placencia. Our representative meets you on arrival then shows you to your hotel. The afternoon is yours to settle in and explore. Come to dinner to meet your fellow travelers and go over plans for the week ahead.

Day 2-7 B / L / D
We travel to the Cockscomb Basin and explore waterfalls, rivers and jungle life of the verdant Jaguar Preserve—an area rich with more than 290 species of tropical birds! From the shadows of the Maya Mountains we travel to the Belize River and watch for monkeys, toucans, green kingfishers and diving locals. Float down the Macal River and see an ancient Mayan cave full of pottery shards. Explore the Mayan ruin of Cahal Pech, the granite pools of the Rio On and Rio Frio cave, and learn from our expert on local plants, birds and animals. We travel the Hummingbird Highway and inner tube on the Caves Branch river through underground chambers of stalactites and stalagmites. At the rural village of Gale's Point, we sail and watch for the West Indian manatee (sea cow), explore limestone caves and look for local wildlife: peccary, deer, armadillo and ocelot.
